Hello brothers and sisters.

I am usually not the one to own any type of Acura, Honda, etc.

My main focus has always been on BMW's, and well, once I'm back from my deployment in Afghanistan that will continue.

I was recently in a car accident where a man ran a red light and T-boned my BMW M3 that I put a lot of money into. The military gave me 3 months leave and now I am home and I bought a cheap nice GS-R to get me around til I leave again.

It is a 1999 GS-R 3DR, 5 Speed, Eibach springs, and 2002 Si alloys are on here. Everything else is pretty much stock. Love that it has leather seats.

It's not BMW, but my buddy in the Corps has one and he loves it, so I decided to give Acura a shot.

Only problems I have with it is the intake, I'm not a K&N fan, I love stock, it seems to work better and last longer and gives you less problems.

So here is my list of questions.

A. Where can I possibly find a website that has performance parts and well, possibly all parts for this car?

B. What are the major maintenance issues that I should look out for?

C. If I were to turbo this, what would be a great kit I could buy to put it on myself?

Engine has 113k on it.

Thanks guys, Oorah.

Check out tuner sports, it helps fund this website and they usually have pretty sweet deals :) plus people around here can help you with your purchase and what not :D

Thanks man I will check that site out.

My car was giving me issues on start up, I wiggled the spark plugs and it turned right on.

BMW has a website where it's blueprints and part numbers of cars.

Does acura have a similar website?

Awesome brother. I'll look at that too!

What's something I should change right away on a 113k B18c1(I'm guessing the c1 because the Type-R is a c5?)

There are alot of bolt on Mods you can do such as, intake, intake manifold, exhaust, headers, those are alot of common mods. But then you can start working in suspension such as coilovers, LCA's, camber kits and sway bars. But it all depends on what you want to do. My advise is check out some of the build threads to see what you like. PM me if you have any questions on Sites to check up for parts. There are hundreds of sites to browse.
Where are you stationed right now? Im in the Air Force currently out of Greenland

Do you know when the last time the water pump and timing belt were done?
That was the first thing I changed out on mine because with these maintience its key to keep these running over a million miles. Yes they've be documented to run over a million on just up keep

Should be a b18c1, check the engine stamp by the exhaust manifold and it'll tell you at least what block it is, which if the car is mostly stock, should match with the head. What were you looking to do to the car for the time being? Showstopperusa has some pretty good stuff, and it's free shipping.

Thanks for serving. A lot of my friends are in the Corps.

I have Eibach springs on there, what else can I do to make it a more comfortable ride?

And I am stationed in San Diego, after the car accident I got 3 months leave so I'm back in my hometown Wichita,Ks to get this car fixed while I'm here.

But I have no idea about the water pump or timing belt. I was planning on changing the pulleys and belts anyways. I just heard the timing belt is hard to change and so is the water pump.

Want a picture of my engine as it sits? Might give you a better view of what to do on it.

Thanks for the input and yes it is the c1.

And thank you for thanking me. The Corps is one big happy family. Oorah.

I just want the car to run nice, maybe make the engine look really clean. I do body work and paint myself so exterior is cheap, just time consuming.

im guessing youre in miramar? im stationed down at NAS north island. at least you got a fellow integ owner in the military! too bad im leaving for the gulf in september.

any pics of the gsr?

theres a good shop in clairemont mesa, 'pann auto' where you could find pretty much anything. theres also a decal place next door and a tune shop if you like boost. but i suggest 'sport car motion' in oceanside for that.

To mkae your ride more comfortable IMO get Coilovers, a Set of Fuction and Form type 1 would be nice. But it all depends on what you want to do.
The timing belt and water Pump arent hard to do at all as long as you have to tools to do so. But even then at the most it should take you a day to change the water pump and timing belt.
Pictures are always a plus, just post them up using Photobucket is the best way to do it.

I'll get pictures up when I get home. But since my car is lowered with eibach springs, do I need the full suspension? Or just sleeve kits

Alright its like this, with coilovers all they allow you to do over springs is adjust your ride height and generally give you a much smoother ride but it also depends on your spring rate of them as well, the lower density of the spring rate the more bounce you'll get out of your ride. I have the Eibach Grond control coilovers and I love them, I dont get any play in the system at all.
And very minimal body roll. With the springs you want to do your research on the spring rates because if you intend on staying at one height then springs will be the way to go over coilovers. But I personall ylike the diversity over changing it up whenever. So In a short answer if you want coilovers you have to do the full suspension
