Fenders

So I've searched Honda/ Acura forums and google for hours now. I'm running 225/50/16's and have had the fenders rolled which did help alot with rubbing , however in hard corners I'm still rubbing a bit. Not terrible but a bit, I want to eliminate it completely without having to change tire size... I like the width. Now I've heard of flaring the fenders whereas you give the fender a new outward arch. Can someone elaborate on this? Btw I'm driving a 98 teg Ls

Why are you running a 225/50 and what size rim? Im gonna guess 8". Unless youre running track i see no reason for the large tire size.

To answer your question, im guessing the flaring you heard of is pulling the fender. If this is true then its usually heat applied to the fender to soften the metal and then pulled to stretch it outwards more allowing additional clearance. Id do a search on that for more info and examples. Some do a slight pull and others more heavily. Since we dont have much flare to begin with in our gen3 bodies, it can look kinda ugly if you pull too much.

Yeah I know 225/50 is not a common street size, but I really like the look of a beefier sidewall as opposed to ( no offense to anyone) the typical 40 or 45 sidewall. And as for the width I like the wider contact patch for the 50-60mph twisties :D .. Yeah your right about the flaring or pulling one would have to be cautious not to interrupt the sleek factory look... But I just need that maybe 3/4 inch more clearance. Any suggestions?

Try running some negative camber instead of pulling the fenders maybe? You don't need to go all JDMYO with the camber, but 1.5-1.75 degrees of negative camber would help out.

Just out of curiosity, do you have any suspension work done? I can do twisties at 50-60mph with extreme ease, and I'm running 205/45/16s. Maybe re-evaluate your approach.

Yeah I talked to some guys and they also suggested negative camber.. And as far as the approach i somewhat regretted gettin 225 but it's to late now.. The money has been spent and on the plus side I do like the wide aggressive look

What kind of suspension do you have?

I'm running 205/45/16s, and I've got HSD coil overs and Skunk2 Pro Series Pus adjustable upper control arms. I'm running about -1.1 degrees of camber in the front and around -0.6 degrees in the rear. My tires tuck on all 4 corners and the only time I rub is if I'm going into a decent grade parking lot entrance or whatever and cranking the wheel. Cornering is comfortable and effortless at reasonable speeds, haven't really pushed it past 100 mph but I wouldn't foresee any issues either.

Honestly the tires are just too big. Sidewall is a bit tall and definitely too wide, that's why you're rubbing. Your speedo is probably off as well I would assume

Yeah bout 3mph. That kinda thing not really bothering me though... I really like the look of the taller sidewall I figure with a little thought and negative camber hahah my vision will become reality

Why don't you upgrade your suspension instead of using purely tires to compensate for the lack of even a decent spring & strut combo?

Goddamnit, I quit.

If you already have it all figured out then what's the question?
