No spark car cranks but won't turn over

Alright guys having more trouble
I went to the store to grab food, put the food up went to start the car BAM! Doesn't start you can here the starter but doesn't crank over, so called a buddy trying to figure out the problem in the bparking lot, thought maybe spark plugs, replaced them no start, push the to start no start, but I did notice that there's a ground wire on top front part of the tranny was smoking idk what significants that would have.
The check engine light popped on, went to scan it was the knnock sensor. Could that be the main problem? Anyone please help

im having the same problem with my 98 teg. Its not starting. I dont have spark or fuel. I changed the main relay and still nada. I am super pissed. If you have any suggestions please share

Is your check engine light on? If so what code pops up?

Don't know about a knock sensor not letting the car start but a cam or crank position sensor wont let the car get any spark to start. Check that ground and make sure all the cables and wires are tightened down. Poor grounds do lots of weird things to cars. Check all your important fuses as well if you haven't already. Once you button it up, unplug your battery or pull the ECU fuse and reset the computer. Let me know how it goes.

Your trans ground to body is cooked if it smoking replace it. The other body ground can't handle the amperage the starter req. You can hook a jumper cable from the trans braket where the ground is and run directly to the bat neg. I did that once to jump and get home.

Ralph check your thermostat ground. Most common problem I've found with a good main no spark and no fuel. Also check all your fuses.

Sweet deal replaced the bad ground starts up. But had to use a ground I took off my amp would that be ok or bad idea?

Just replace the other ground. A ground cable is just a wire, im pretty sure your fine. Just make sure you replace it with a similar gauge cable.
