Canadian144's DC4 RS buildup!

Thanks guys! Definitely a deal lol.

Finally got a chance to work on her again. Got the gas tank in, started it up and no problems, no leaks. Threw one of my Sabelt harnesses on just as a joke really haha. I realize that the picture has the two straps coming underneath the headrest when it should be going around. The car will NOT be street driven with the harness in the way it's currently mounted. It's because I wanted to see how it felt! The seats will be swapped for Recaros anyways, and I am (at the very minimum) going to be running a harness bar, if not a partial cage at least.

So what's next ? I guess I'll keep cleaning out the trunk. I mean the car seems to run/drive fine around the farm so I'm not going to start tearing the engine out yet. In fact the engine is probably going to be the last part of the build. So I'll start doing some bodywork next.

Anyways, here's pic of the tank, as well as the Sabelt mounted up haha.

So I pulled some of the body panels off the car to see just how bad the rust was... and.....:

So at this point... this car really isn't worth saving. That doesn't mean I'm not going to be doing a DC build!!!!! Just this will be used as a parts car. Rot is really bad on the drivers side skirt mounts. I went to see a shell that looked SUPER clean but as soon as I pulled the drivers side skirt back I noticed the exact same thing unfortunately.

I'm also strongly considering doing a K swap... when I'm back in Toronto I'm going to look at a teg that previously had a K20 so I wouldn't have to weld the one mount. I know someone selling a K20a with a bunch of Toda racing goodies but with a spun rod bearing. So this may be an excellent opportunity for a K swap.

Also picked up a few spare parts for $100 last night - 2 JDM ITR headlights (black w/ projectors, in better shape than mine I think), JDM ITR bumper/lip, JDM grille, 94 stock rear bumper, side skirt, Moog tierod, and 3 right JDM front fenders.

wow dude you finding great deals huh?
Haha thats the only way to do it. When you don't need parts urgently and have time to search local forums/classifieds you can score some mad deals! Best deal I ever scored was a brand new set of Konis for $75 for my Legend!!!

That's is a lot of goodies for a bill. Lucky lucky man you.
Thanks! Most of them will just be spares in case something ever happens to my front end.

lucky ass people... i want to see that build! haha
Haha well there will be more!

Just at this point I'm still kinda undecided.

It's either buy this clean shell locally that's all setup for a K swap, buy the K20 that spun a bearing, and put them together basically (along with the parts from this white car).

Or spend a LOT of time fixing all the rust on this car and just sticking to the original plan (LS/Vtec).

Bring it back up!!!! New update.

96 GS shell with rear leathers (no front leathers  but NBD since I'm getting Recaros) & no front end. Left Malice (local guy) with a deposit, will pick it up next week. Body has quite a few dings/dents but it is SOLID with virtually no rust. The car will be media blasted and repainted white anyways.

My only problem is that it has a sunroof. So I'm debating HOW big a deal that really is, and if I should swap over my RS roof skin.

Now just to find a GSR drivetrain for cheap!!!

That's what I'm planning lol! I left the guy with a deposit and am picking up the GS shell next week.

Today I started stripping down the white 94... sad to see her all apart haha!

Got the front end, 98+ tails, ITR spoiler (it's a legit OEM Honda part), ITR cluster (top is kinda messed but I'll swap the clear cover with the one from the GS), airbag delete, and a few other things off. I also found out my side skirts are real ITR skirts also.

I also picked up a password JDM rear wiper delete (I was just in Cali so I actually bought this at their store, very cool place, have some pics), and a sick speed momo/personal hub adapter.

Well now. Here she is!

Planning to sell the GS rims w/ winter tires come the fall... just debating if I should clean them up and/or paint them beforehand. I will also be selling the rear disc brake conversion. Some other little body panels I won't be needing too.

I have NO clue what the front seats are from... any one know? I don't want them but my dad is planning to put them into one of his BMW 2002s haha. Same with the back seats. They don't bolt up to anything really... except that the seat backs latch to the OEM spots. Maybe they're from an Integra sedan? EL? I thought they were normal GS/GSR leather rear seats but now that I see them obviously now. So I will probably sell them too haha. Door panels have the leather/vinyl insert, will be transferring that to the other set of door panels. The wiring for the speaker makes me want to cry haha... WTF is going on there. Going to be a PITA to re-do.

The only other thing on the car is a Magnaflow muffler/aftermarket piping. I'll probably keep it for now... but possibly end up selling.

Really my biggest dilemma now is.... which car to fix up  I thought for sure I would use this car and swap all of the JDM stuff over. But now I'm also thinking... maybe I should just cut the rear qps off of this car, as well as the side skirt mounting area, and weld them to the white car. That way, I don't have to worry about the roof skin/sunroof, ABS, and JDM front rad support. I'll have to have a talk with my dad and get his opinion. The only downside to this is... the motor I am probably picking up will be OBD2, so I would have to convert it to OBD1 to work in the 94 somehow... I'll have to look into it. Malice got this idea into my head!!!!

Definitely man.

I'm picking up a GSR swap (engine, trans) next week...

I just have to have to decide which shell to build haha

Ok, big stuff now...

It's a B18C1 from a 96 GSR w/ GSR tranny. Runs but the timing is off.... doesn't matter. Planning on head wok anyways. Came with dizzy, spark plug wires, and ECU also. I'll pull the bottom end out too to make sure everything is OK and maybe change the pistons. Going to be running AEM cam gears and some sort of aftermarket cam anyways so being off time right now isn't a big deal. Going to have to get a jumper harness to make use of the OBD2 ECU, since my 94 is an OBD1. May need some other stuff too for the conversion? IDK. I'll look into it.

Won't get much else done on this DC until the spring probably. I have what I need to get started (a body that needs quite a bit of body work, a body that has good parts to cut/weld to the 94, and an engine to start building). Now I have to blueprint what I'm doing for the engine, as well as suspension. Actively on the hunt for a pair of cheap Red DC2 ITR Recaros but haven't found anything super cheap. Will just wait to the spring probably.

Alright just to tie up some loose ends...

Got a FREE ceramic coated DC 4-2-1 header for the car, so obviously I will be using that. I also got a free alternator pulley that looks aftermarket... I guess it's lighter? IDK. Might as well run that too. Also installed my PW:JDM wiper delete.

Need to start doing the bodywork taking apart the B18C1. Can't wait to be home from Boston to start putting this back together. In the meantime, I'll be researching/picking out rims, suspension components, motor stuff, seats, etc etc etc.....
