Hi guys, I recently bought a 94 LS integra, dash said 160,XXX miles but it was proven to have over 240,XXX miles. I guess the upside is that it has a japanese motor in it. I've had 3 american cars before and this car is fun to drive, looking forward to learning a lot and helping out if I can.

My bad

Yeah I want to fix it up, the previous owner seemed to be a slob and there are creaks and rattles, I want to get those fixed up and I want to get some more oomph from engine, a B18B motor. My exhaust is stock but it is louder than other Integra's, the japanese motor wouldn't have anything to do with this, right?

Nothing Japanese about the motor, that's a factory engine. Sounds like an exhaust leak. And holy 4x4 status man haha

I was told that the jdm version was marked as 'B18B' instead of ' B18B1' on the block and that's what I have, so I have a regular engine then?

And you should have seen it when I bought it, the tires the previous owner had on it gave it at least an extra inch of ground clearance, but they were too big so when I went over bumps on the freeway the tires rubbed the fender wall and it became sharp, exposing the steel belt on the front of my tires. My friend asked me what the hell I did to the car because it was sparking when I drove. I was pondering rolling the fenders because it had a 'unique' look haha

As for plans I want to keep this car for a long time, any suggestions to the motor first with high mileage?

I'm sorry, you're right the B18b is the jdm version, but it's still basically a b18b1, but no it really wouldn't change how loud the car is.

Just go through the maintenance checklist. Since you said it came from a slob, you probably have a lot of stuff to do. I usually go out driving for about an hour, write down anything I notice that I want to investigate and then add that to my regular maintenance stuff... not that I actually get to it, it's just soothing to write it down.

Also, I can't tell if that's primer black or just rattle can matte paint, but if it is primer, get it handled soon. Metal can rust under primer, it absorbs anything (including moisture) it's how it bonds with the paint.

I will do that next time that I go driving, I'm sure the list will keep me busy for a while. I already fixed an oil leak coming from the cam seal and developed another on the driver's side, I'm being told it could be the head gasket which sounds like a headache already.

Thanks for the tip on primer, I didn't know that, but it is matte black from plastidip, i'm sure you guys have heard of it. It supposedly has no effects on paint and can be peeled off like saran wrap. I wanted to get it repainted since the clear coat was bubbling up in a lot of places so I started working on it but some stuff came up. It looked kind of funky so my friend and I lightly sprayed it with some cans.
