potential wiring mix up

at this moment I have the basic wiring of speakers--->head unit

when I go to hook up my 4 channel amp I don't need the speaker wires connected to the head unit correct?

which then requires me to run:
rca--->amp--->speakers. correct?

any confirmation would be greatly appreciated

Thank you guys, I tried calling people who specialize in audio but they wouldn't tell me unless I paid them and had them do it for me. It's ok if I take out the wiring harness then right?

they are loosing money doing that kind of sht, thats why i dont go to shops unless its for something i cant do myself

you still need the wiring harness for the power/ground wires

some ppl run the speaker wires from the amp to the wiring harness so that they dont have to run new wires BUT if it where me i run new wires to make sure it works the best

Sorry I'm a 16 year old noob with everything. but just to clarify, I disconnect the speaker wires from the head unit and run the speaker wires to the amp right?

you gotta start out some where, yup cut them off and tape them up if you'd like
run 4 channel rca's to amp
run speaker wires(make sure you have the ohm load right) out to the speakers

play and enjoy
