Okay so I have a Sony DSX-S200X (link: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DSXS200X-Digital-Receiver-Control/dp/B0042X96KG/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1336699225&sr=1-2 ) stereo and 2 12 inch Rockford Fosgate subwoofers with a Rockford Fosgate R250 amplifier certified at 274 watts (link: http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-Prime-R250-1-Amplifier/dp/B002X786WC/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1336699349&sr=1-1 ).

I drive a 1999 Acura Integra coupe and need help picking out component speakers to go with the gear that I already have.

I am pretty new to all of this so I don't know if i should be looking for coaxial or component speakers, if I need a separate amp for the speakers I end up getting or if the built in one with the head unit is enough, or if I need a different kind of speaker for the front vs the rear.

As for my budget, I am looking at more of the entry level of speakers. My limit is probably $100 per pair of speakers.

I have shopped around a little bit online and have found this: http://www.amazon.com/Rockford-Fosgate-R1652-S-6-5-Inch-Component/dp/B002X786XG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1336690648&sr=1-1
Any thoughts?

Any and all help is really appreciated and if there's any information that I left out let me know and I will supply it.

Thanks in advance!

First of all that amp is no where near powerful enough for those subs get a two channel amp that putts out at least 500rms per channel. Then you need a separate amp for your speakers. The watts depends on which speakers you get. Which comes from personal preference and research. I wouldn't even consider anything in your head unit an amp either it's such low wattage it doesn't even count. What kind of Rockfords are the subs? You may not need 500 like I said. Lol

No I only spent $190 on the subs/amp combo including tax.

If I got the speakers I linked, what power amp would i need? Also, could I get those for the rear speakers too or would I need to get something else?

Are you looking to power those speakers with an amp or run them directly off of your head unit? A 100$ budget for a pair of speakers gives you a very limited range of what you can buy. Let me know if you are thinking about purchasing an amp or running them strictly off of your head unit.

Edit: Didn't read your above post, I honestly don't like the way Rockford speakers sound, especially their prime series. For 100$ you could look for some Alpine SPS - 610C's or if you could bump up you speakers to a 100-150$ range, Arc Audio KS 6006's sound really good. It all depends on what your preference is. If there is a local audio store near you I would take a look at their inventory and base your options on what you hear. Being fairly new to the audio game has it's disadvantages; as you will purchase entry level items and will be wanting to go bigger and louder, but if you are just looking for a factory upgrade anything that I have listed will be fine. Hell, the Rockford Prime series will suit you well and you won't need an amp to run those speakers. But I do recommend a 2nd amp for your speakers because if you want to turn up your volume past 20, your speakers will start to distort.

I was honestly just going to power them off of my head unit, but if they will distort at as low of volume as you say then I will probably go ahead and get an amp too.

Well my rear speakers are blown and I don't really need those to be that high quality, but I am definitely considering spending a little more on the front. Or would that not make any sense to do?

Also, should I be looking for component speakers for the front and the back? I know there's a spot in the door for a tweeter, but I don't know about the back.

I tried to look up the Arc Audio 6006's that you recommended, but I couldn't find them anywhere online. Do you think you could like them for me?

Just found a set of 4 Infinity Kappa 62.9i speakers, which from what I've seen are pretty highly rated for the price range, for $140 and I think I'm going to pull the trigger on them. I also just found this Kenwood Kac-8405 720-Watt 4/3/2-Channel Amplifier for $127. Does this sound like a reasonable pairing?

I have the same headunit. Just installed it tonight. I was looking at MB quart componets up front and 2-ways in the rear for $140 but I found some rockford fosgate for $120. I'm not sure which brand is better. I've heard good things about both. Check out sonicelectronix.com

The guy a couple posts up steered me away from the rf speakers you listed, but hopefully you like them!
