Help! I need someone in Tampa Bay to help put a D16 in my 88' LS Gold Special

Hi all. I love my 1988 White Gold Special Edition 'teg. From what i can tell there are only a few left in the US, so I want to keep it as original as possible. I blew the original engine, but I was able to find an original D16! Almost everything else has already been replaced - cooling/air/fuel/alternator/etc. So, all I need is someone who can disconnect the tranny and CV's (if necessary) and help me get them hooked back up to the working engine. I have most of the tools we need, other then the engine lift. Compensation will be based on how any hours it takes us to do the job. This is just one of the first steps in a full restoration, with the goal to make her show quality......If you're interested replay to this post or send me a PM. Thanks!

Like I said - it's a restoration project...I would be embarrassed to post pics of it up on blocks in my garage...but if you are just looking for proof that it really is a special gold, I'll post something soon

No fucks given.
There's no need to be embarrassed, bro. Mine's stuck in my front yard with broken motor mounts and I've posted the tilted engine. We won't make fun of you, we just like pics

before pics of '88 Gold edition

Ok, pics are up. they are not good, be warned, It's in a garage so I did the best could to get pics of the details that make the Gold special different. The interior is basically the same as an LS, with every power option available - and they all still work 24 years later!
Anyway pics are in 2 public albums under my profile - I couldn't get them to post in the forum.

Back to the original question - know anyone who would help me with an engine swap in the Tampa bay area (St. Pete) for a few hundred bucks? I can handle the rest ( cooling, air, fuel systems, etc) just need a little more expertise for the engine itself. Thanks guys.

I understand the car now. The special editions only came in black and white, black had gold wheels exclusively, but they both came with gold trim. 2500 of each were made.

To the question.... You could call a few places around the area and get quotes. The only ones I know of that do good work are Pete Stop on Park Blvd, across from Parkside Mall, and Darkside Performance (though they mainly work on DSMs), which is right down the road from Pinellas County Jail.... But idk prices on anything.

Best luck would be to sign up on Tamparacing.com and ask questions in a few different shops sub-forums.

Cool thx. I'll try them if I can't find someone who wants to make a couple hundred bucks on a saturday/Sunday/anyday. I know almost evertthing about the car, except how to swap the engine. I could probably do it, i just don't trust myself. Thanks for sure. I'll keep them in mind.

If you need help, atleast post a location so people don't waste their time PMing someone 1000miles away! Post pics!
