Me saying im iffy on vtec is because HELLO! I dont want to put a rod threw my block!!! The clearence is not much down theere thats why the rev in at 6300...and im not a bud, im a girl thanks.
Then don't do it. Build your engine with some nonVTEC cams and other supporting mods. It's gonna be expensive to do it right, so it's up to you. If you want keep it simple, go buy a B18C1 or C5 longblock and swap it in.

Explain your "clearance is not much down there" comment. There is a member on here, he posted up a bit, who revs his to close to 9000 regularly. I wouldn't recommend it, but... I'm actually considering building a B20 block to put under my gsr head. If I do, I will upgrade the rod bolts, shot peen the rods, have it balanced, and rev it to 9k all day long :)

Just boost it and stop being a loser. :D. Stop with this all motor nonsense.

:O Thought I'd just give an opinion...I recently got done with a B20z(PHK pistons) vtec build... I do have it on a chipped p28 and all the goodies done... i rev it up to 7k only and i love it...i know it wants to go further because of the gsr cams...

I've been driving for about 1 month with it, doing a few hard accelerations at least once a day... strong torque...I love it.
Over all I think it costed me about ... 300-400 to do... I did get the block pretty cheap ...junk yards that don't give a crap about honda ftw... LOL 75 bucks for a b20z block =] ...Sadly to say If i wanted more power i don't know what to do next with it <_<;... but low boost... ???

Either way...Boost is always BETTER!

Are u talking about meeee? Lol

It is true though the block is untouched bought the motor as a used crate motor and I do road race my setup and bring it well past 8, almost to 9 at sometimes...I will say that I do baby my car on the street too because I understand the b20 block's faults and want it to last

You say your scared of the clearance issues...the only clearance issues are between the valves and pistons..and it doesn't matter how high ur RPM's are it's always going to be close and if u don't have your timing belt right u could cause sever damage...

I realize you don't wanna put a rod through your block no one wants to do that..but if ur only going to rev under 7K u might as well not do the swap because ur not taking advantage of the vtec head..GSR cams make power till 8K give or take (had them before my skunk2 ones)

If ur scared or can't afford the consequences then don't do it plain and simple...

If u wanna pm me and talk more feel free I willing to give advice

Yup, and I thought your block was still stock, but wasn't sure so didn't specify.
