PROBLEM SOLVED (SORT OF):
My brother just got home from work and I explained to him the confusion. The engine is a non-vtech from an LS. It has a custom "valve cover". That's why its red. We ran the vin found on the door, and window and it showed that it was a 2000 type gsr. The vin from the engine showed 2000 LS. My understanding is the body and transmission is a gsr and the engine is an LS.

Well, at least now you know what you have :) I would for sure ditch the type R sticker. I was also getting suspicious looking at the intake. Definitely wasn't a gsr intake...

Good DC2 man. That's not a Type R. A Type R is totally different as far as suspension, interior and drivetrain.

Is it a salvaged title? Most likely the engibe got stolen and replaced with a lower cost, lower powered B18B1 LS DC4 engine.

Looks good ! And welcome to the site

The emblems are gone! :)
ONCE AGAIN: I did not put them on lol. if I accidentally called it a type r I didn't mean to offend anyone. I also want to know why it has an automatic gauge cluster

I know you didn't put them on, I was just saying if it was mine, I wouldn't leave them on. Good taking them off, imho...

The automatic cluster really puzzles me. There was no usdm auto gsr sold. They must have just replaced it with the wrong one for some reason. Where does the gauge redline at?

sounds like someone definitely bought a shell, slapped some parts in and keep it pushing, hope you didn't pay GSR KBB value

maybe the person before you sold the gsr engine and gauge cluster together? and just put in a ls motor and gauge cluster from a different car... either case maybe it has more miles on it then 70k since the original engine was taken out.
