You need to get at it from the underside, you'll need to drop your roof liner. I took mine off to shave it.

Kinda hard to see in that pic, but there's 2 tabs that need to be pushed in, then push up on the whole thing and it'll come out though the top of the car. It's pretty hard to get your fingers in there and still apply enough pressure to push the tabs, have a pair of pliers or something to that effect handy to help you out.

The body shop welded a piece over it. I was having the whole roof painted anyway.

Is the roof where it attaches perfect flat or is there a indent ?

You don't need a test light to remove panels. It just happens to be in the picture because I don't have a pic of just my panel poppers, but I wanted to show people what they look like.
I mostly use the test light installing remote starters and alarms but you can check fuses with it too. It easier than using a multimeter, but you can smoke something if you test a wire you shouldn't have (like air bag wires, some power trunk pop wires, data wires, ect), but that's rare, I've never done it.

You'll want to take the whole liner off. Its not hard, just time consuming, and your arms/shoulders will get tired as hell, heh. You need to pop of all four pillar covers (you can just pull back the top of the back ones), unscrew/remove the dome light, map light, rearview mirror, sun visors and oh sh*t grips, pull off the moulding around the sunroof.
