Is Vtec worth it..?

or should I stay with my gs.. I've been looking at gsr's for a while. only difference from mine is its a stepup from my gs with the vtec and.... thats pretty much it? same leathers, sunroof, power everything and chassis. only other difference is the strut bar and dc2 chassis codes..?

I've invested alot in my car already. a grand in motor job at honda, new timing belt, water pump, belts, tensioner, head gaskets, suspensions- kyb struts new honda springs, dcheaders, ddm hid lights, tints, touchscreen dvd, tires, minor problems needing fixing etc etc, i have 120k mi

but i still dream about the vtec b18c motor, i know its about 30hp more then mine and crave those exhaust notes i hear on the street. although i think might have to spend the few thousand i spent already on my car, again on a new if i get the gs-r. on timing belt, maintenance and what not

Wanted to know if its worth it..? to get a gs-r or just build my car. I could do a b18c swap but mad work n money plus the tranny conversion. might be better to just get a gs-r altogether..? but then reinvest all that money..? motor work needs, timing belt, water pump, head gasket, tune-up, body, paint, etc etc...

doesn't a GS have a different compression ratio than an LS? people go LS because it has thicker gaskets and has low compression and will be able to push more boost. correct me if i'm wrong

Gs and ls are exactly the same, minus the fact gs has leather and a few other goods

1. sell it then buy a gs-r

2. boost what you have

two options

just get a gsr crate swap. then get a gates timing belt kit and do the maintenance while the motor is out. timing belt and water pump is CAKE! if you get the motor from a reputable dealer, it wont need a head gasket, spark plus and plug wires wuld be a good idea and NGK stuff will run about 60-80 for everything. and you might as well do a new clutch and flywheel unless you've done one recently and an OEM spec replacement from fisher or something would be about 200. so swap plus about 400. better than selling what you have and starting completely over and in my opinion, easier than going boost.

Agreed, grab a JDM B18C1 or B18C depending on what you want to spend, swap it in and call it a say.

id say sell the gs especially if its in great condition. Buy the GS-R jizz on the Vtec and if you buy the GS-R for less than what you sold the GS for then get some headers or exhaust for the GS-R and call it a day!!

Shut up baby, I know it!
adding vtec will not make you much faster, i love that common misconception when racing people. "but bro, you dont have vtec in that thing, so it doesnt make that much power overall"

Going from an ls motor to a gsr, I only picked up 0.10 seconds in the 1/4 mile, same trans, same trim level, same chassis weight, same driver weight, both w/ full tank. Boost it if you want more power. That's what I should've done in the first place, would've been much more satisfying in the end. This will be my next build, lots of boost.
