if the rear damage isnt that bad on the donor car get it repaired or not and sell it with your autotrans and make back your money invested.
when you have a complete donor car even if it has body damage you can usually make a penny off of it.

I'd just sell your current car and buy a manual. I know projects are cool, but in this economy, you can't afford to lose any money.
too late^ and im in high school so money isnt a huge problem for spending. its the getting part thats tough

dude, sell the auto and invest it all into the ls! then you got alot more money to tinker with. I got 2 97 tegs that i have ones auto and manual...so if you got the money keep both! but hey in high school with a bunch of free time? switch them both around and make one your dd and one your toy!

it comes down to how much you love your car right now. i have two cars i wouldn't trade for the world. honestly if you sell both the teggys you got you can buy a pretty nice manual one. sell your current beater for 4k, and part the scrap one for about 1500. then you can buy yourself a kouki gsr and go doridori on a touge till your numb from the waist down. but if you love your car then yeah JUST DO IT. then sell everything else. like your auto tranny and what not.. if you part the second teggy right. you just might come out even.

i did a at/mt conversion about 8 years back. but i keeped the auto ecu and harness. and honestly if you have knowledge mechanical then the conversion is fairly easy. do yourself a favor and take the dash apart first prior to the engine. then swap out everything.

have fun. good luck.

I didn't know USDM Type R's came in silver...or with a sunroof...or with 4 lug wheels...or with all those JDM stickers. lol. (I added USDM for all those smartass people who will correct me about the 96 spec ITRs). Your friend is a ricer hahahhaah.

wowsers. placing a type R sticker on a non type R modified car is an insult to the track car. at lease throw in a type R motor. or even gsr with type r cams. then you earned the rights to badge yourself type R.

if you need any advice or approach to the swap let me know. everything is pretty str8 forward...... IMO. cut the big brake pedal and just install the clutch pedal. man your lucky to have a donor car.

Well, I gotta say, This swap was difficult... Until I SEARCHED THE FORUMS! Haha I got it done and put in a gsr 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear, and a new clutch kit from a local shop. Total cost of the swap? HAHAHA I sold the auto tranny for 150, and the WHOLE CAR! for parts for... 800 bucks! The GSR gears cost me 280 and the clutch kit was 200, so all in all, my swap cost about 200 dollars. Minty fressshhhhhh
