thanks a ton man the icture helped..yes my battery is in the trunk ...will 4 ga be good enough or should i use 2
2ga should be sufficient, youre most likely going to have to use a distribution block up front though and run 4 or 8ga to the fuse box

what i meant was if you're going to use 2 ga wire from the battery to the front where your fuse box is located... the 2ga wire is thick so most likely its not going to fit the fuse box.

what most people do in this sense is run a distribution block

something similar to this

so it would take your 2ga wire and split it so that one wire can go to your fusebox...
and the other wire would go directly to the starter.

and as the other diagram i showed you, you'll connect the alternator to your fuse box

get the proper fuse rated for the wire's capacity...
http://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp

1/0 350amps
2 225amps
4 150amps

those are all max of course so anything lower can be used

as far as which type i assume you mean ANL vs AGU correct?

for your main power wire i would go with ANL (you'll have a hard time finding AGU fuses rated higher than 60amps anyways)

were did you get your dist. block its small and clean
its not mine but its a JL Audio distribution block...

model # XB-PDBU-2

they're discontinued but you can still buy them from JL or else where if they still have it in stock

its kind of expensive compared to other non-fused distribution blocks but like you said its small and clean but anything from JL is usually overpriced
