Hey all,
I've been looking around on 3 stage V-Tec and can find cams for it but nothin on what i would have to do to put them on my car. (94 ls w/ '00 GS-R swap stock minus intake and exhaust.) basically what i'm looking for is to has 1st stage kick in arond 4k and 2 stage kick in around 6k. I highly dought its as easy as putting the cams in. Do i need a different V-Tec colinoid, asuming chip and tune would be a must. I seem to find a lot of info about it and how it works but nothing about how to do it lol so if anyone can point me in the right direction or give me the correct key words to search for would make this a lot easier. I've tried searching 3stage vtec, upgrade vtec and a few others and can't seem to find what i am looking for! Thanks in advance y'all!!

Well, I was going to wait and see what you found, partly for the lulz, but I will be nice. 3 stage vtec is only available on sohc d-series, outside the us. What you are finding, if they are for a b-series, are "stage 3 cams". This is a vague term used to determine level of agressiveness. What you are looking for, for your engine, does not exist.

Right, both those articles are referring to a d15b sohc engine made for non-us markets. I don't believe you can put that head on your motor and our ecu's would have no way of controlling it.

K, i take it the one stage of vtec is all you can could have sworn a buddy of mine i was talking to said that (what thought he was talking about vtec) kicked in 3 different times. Apparently i misunderstood i know he has a lot of money tied up in his teg anything sound remotely close that i would have mis intupreted?

If he has a gsr, you feel vtec first, then you feel the seconaries open in the manifold, if he has a stock intake manifold. Amount of money has no influence on the intelligence level, or the ability to blow smoke.

3 stage vtec is only avalible on a JDM single vtec motor i believe.
it combines E Vtec with Vtec.
low rpms it only opens like 3 valves per cylinder or 2 valves, then at a certain rpm it crosses over so all 4 valves per cylinder are used then at another rpm the actual vtec lobe is used. All B series vtec is regular vtec with 3 lobes, primary secondary and vtec lobes. The gsr "vtec" comes the closest to a 3 stage vtec system i guess, with normal driving until 4300 where vtec engages and then at 5600 the IAB butterflies open creating the "vtec crossover noise" but what you want was only seen in a single vtec jdm motor.
