Your Inspiration?

hey all

What inspires you guys/girls when you build your cars?

Is it the desire to build something that no one ever has? Do you see stuff you like and try and put it all together to make something of your own? Form > Function or the other way around? Show or Go? Etc.

I wanna know what makes you guys and girls buy the cars (db, dc, da, etc) and parts that you do?

Personally, I've always wanted a project car. I was torn between a nissan s13/14 and an acura da/db/dc. Ended up choosing a dc2 though I still have a couple doubts. (RWD ;[ ) . Haven't started modding it yet because I'm not sure what direction I want to go with the build.

I agree with you, I love it when people get psyched about cars and parts. it gets me psyched too.

My inspiration was a cherry red shaved & tucked JDM Inspired swapped EJ1 back when I was a kid owned by my sisters BF's friend. No rice.

My inspiration is the stock build quality of Honda and their thing with N/a engines.
It's like a rule for them. No V8's and turbos. Yet, they were able to produce cars with very small motors, yet a considerable amount of power.

for me, im into the whole car audio thing. the teggy is just another one of those cars i want a system in and what INSPIRES me to spend money (couple K) is the reaction ppl get when they hear it.

That feeling when you pull up to the line at a drag strip, look over at your opponent, hope to god you're faster, wait for the green light, drop your clutch and bury your gas pedal. Then at the 1/8th mile, look to the side and see their head lights. Then at the 1/4mile you look again and don't see them at all until you look in your side/rearview mirror. That's what inspires me. The adrenaline rush of burning second, and chirping third.


Kinda like in f&f when vin diesel talks about that ten seconds or less of freedom. Except where I'm at it's more like 15sec or less ha ha

Oh Man where do I start LOL, well currently the main reason is to basically shut down the whole JDM bullshit you know the young kids with their LS-VTEC, and their B16 swap, Type-R, and K20 EF, theirs nothing more satisfying to me than seeing this kid who thought his car was the shit with his Benen tow hook and seeing his hopes of beating me being demolished, this is probably the most asshole thing I've done but I'm really fed up with the whole JDM bullshit and the ignorance of not doing your research and the whole and LS-VTEC was the best thing created since sliced bread, Huge Turbo = SUPERFAST CAR!!!! (not considering the assload of turbo lag) and that LS gears is better for turbo because your in boost longer and shit like that, and as soon as that simmers down I'll quit being a dick

But before it was about following my dad's foot steps and being the alpha male the one who was King who can never be beaten but now that settled down because I got a little more realistic. So its just all about putting those kids in their place

I've always loved the idea of going big or going home. It's been that way with everything i've owned. I've got pretty big plans with my Integra. I think it's eventually going to be a "nice" track car. In the sense that i'll do all the aesthetically pleasing things to it that I like. Shaving the bay and a wire tuck have been on my list from the beginning. I absolutely love the look of a shaved bay.

But if it can't perform, it's not worth crap to me.
I guess i'm just a speed demon at heart lol.

it all started with me when i was a young teen in the early 90's. a neighbor of mine (her boyfriend) was in the military. he had, outside, was a silver nissan 180sx from japan. id ride my bike and pass by it all the time. drooling over the whole thing. everything was legit. fatty front mount, the whole 180sx front with kouki tails. when id see the 240sx vers, id always look to see if it was a 180 and it never was. thats when i learned there were different versions of U.S. cars overseas. better versions. almost like 'super car' status.

his girlfriend (my neighbor) even has a green DA with a full mugen kit, silver RNR's and still has it till this day.

and of course, the biggest influence was Gran Turismo 1. tune, tune, tune!! thats where i learned what an integra type r looked like, what they called a fairlady z, learned what camber was, how gear ratios worked, etc...

with fixing up cars, ive learned there will always be someone faster. so what do i do? i just make my vehicles look the way that i think looks best. low and slow. there was a time when id ask what would look best, what should i do, asking for people's opinions, etc.. but one day, i just stopped and asked myself 'why do i need to make my car look the way others want?' so, i just do whatever and post up what ive done and then i ask for others opinions. either good or bad. it wont change for them.

You guys have awesome stories and inspirations, no doubt.

I like the different attitudes everyone has. Some want beast audio, some want beastly fast cars, some make them look good. That's cooll, I like the different ideas.

That's how true tuners do it. Ricers are the ones who conform to everyone else's styles. Tuners and enthusiasts have their own ideas, thoughts and inspirations for their cars.

what i mentioned wasnt the only thing that got me inspired. that was more like a door opening.

my good frend, both of his sisters was into it as well. the eldest sister had a slammed DA with some basic bolt-ons and the middle sister had a corolla 86GTS slammed with bolt-ons as well. but the integ sat way lower. i was always excited to drive their cars when theyd ask me to do their errands. lol!!

i also had other older cousins that was all into it as well.
