how old is old? 94? 89? You will not find one with under 100k miles. If you do and it is within your price range get it. If you cant find one under 100k miles that is ok the engine will last a long time. Look for rust around the rear wheel wells, signs of water in the trunk.

Try and get an LS or GSR. The Type R's insurance is way to high, and th RS has the mismatched side moldings and shit. Milage seriously doesn't mean jack since your gonna rebuild it anyway. Just make sure the body is good.

whats ur price range?

well where i got my teg was at a shop that i knew, he buys cars that have been totaled either by accidents or theft recovery at auctions and restore them and sell them. dont get me wrong the engines are good and strong, interior been redone everything, cant even tell. sell them for cheap. i got my 97 GS coupe for 6,500; only 23K on the motor. it was a theft recovery. so if u dont mind driving a car with a salvage title u should try looking into restored cars. i sold my car after 2 months in the newspaper, and used that money to put a down payment on my RSX; trust me i sold it for much more than i bought it for

You LS and GSR are almost identical EXCEPT the GSR has the 170HP VTEC (b18c1) motor and all disc brakes. The LS has the non-vtec (b18b1) motor. They both are good, but the GSR has VTEC baby! VTEC engines are Honda's "race" motors. You can use the LS just fine, but you won't have as good of a top end as you would with a GSR. There's a sticky thread that explains what VTEC is, check it out.

id go with a LS and put a b18 in it, if your grandpa is gonna help you build up a motor you should just buy one and build instead of having to take one out and then drop it back in

That sucks bro but seems like you have goals to get a teg. Believe me I had a neon and I know what you mean I would top out at about 50 too. So keep savin and get an LS especially if your going to rebuild the engine that way you save $$$ right off the back. Since the LS and GSR look alike it wont matter about any differance in appearance.

Im not sure what ur tryin to say but here goes... I had a dodge neon and it was a piece of crap it was really slow and had really low top speed I was exaggerating about 50 but seriously 105 was the top speed. Anyways dont feel bad about owning a Geo if any one starts making fun about your geo remind them that your geo has 4 more pistons than an RX-7 .(LOL)
