Are you positive your windshield's defroster isn't working or are you just assuming this because it's not working for you? When people say that their defroster isn't working, half the time the problem is the user, not the unit.
Tsk tsk on the rolling the window down to help get rid of it. Does it work? Yeah, but who in their right mind rolls down the window on a rainy day? It's just a quick fix. It's just going to make the problem worse later. The foggy windows will come back with a vengeance.
You're not going about this the right way. Rolling down windows, cracking sunroofs, etc. = letting in a shit load MORE moisture back into the air. The reason people turn on the A/C to get rid of condensation in the car is because it works to dehumidify the air. Since your A/C isn't working, try a different approach.
Are you re-circulating the air when you hit the defroster? Don't. It'll just push it around now. The reason windows fog up is because the air inside your car is full of moisture and it's warm. When it hits a cold surface (your windows), it creates condensation. We all know that...
The solution would be to set the defroster and temperature inside your car as close as possible to what it is outside. If it's real cold, turn the temp. to the coldest and just wait for the fog to go away. Then you can gradually increase the temp. so it's a little warmer. Most people just turn their defroster on to the hottest when they get in the car thinking it'll get rid of the condensation. That hardly works.
If you honestly think window visors are your solution, then by all means, get them. More times than not, it's you that's the problem. Not your defroster. You just have to know how to use it correctly. :twocents:
