Wierd noise at 3k- 4k rpm

When im revin my integra in first and second gear, mayb even third, a weird noise(kinda like a ratlling noise) is heard between 3k-4k rpm. It can also be heard when i'm in my lower gears and take my foot off the accelerator while slowing down. I've been told its the CAT, the Heat shield, and also the Headers/extractors(due to a crack in the headers where the pipes join at a y shape).
Does anyone know which of these it is because the noise is pissing me off :evil: . I don't know whether the replace the CAT or work on the heat shields or replace the header, or even replace the whole exhuast system. :shock:

That, my friend, is the world famous....*drum roll*.... Integra Exhaust Rattle. Many G3 Integra's (especially GSR's) are afflicted with this irritating condition. My 95 GSR and my 90 Civic both had this problem (thankfully my 98 Civic does not). It's actual source is a mystery, many causes are hypothesized but no one can really agree on a main source. Some say its a heatshield on the header, some say it's a heatshield on the cat, some say it's a piece that breaks inside the cat, some say it's at the joint between the two. The cure for this ailment is a bit expensive, but worth every penny and has sure fire satisfactory results...a new header and high flow cat. The rattle will be gone, your car will be faster and with cooler sounding exhaust, too!

This problem is so common with G3 Integra's it should have been a recall item. I'm guessing it never was it poses no threat to the safety of the car or the structural integrity of the exhaust system itself, nor does it affect performance. It' just IRRITATING and EMBARRESING AS HELL! Makes our cars sound cheap.

LOL oh man this shit is funny because i have teh fucking same problem hate the dam noise... well yea it was a teg problem from factory and its the cat that makes all the noise sinces the 2 integra i own it makes this noise becase my cat had been clog. I jsut bought new headders and cat back exhuast sytem and now im looking for a high flow cat so if you got one let me know asap.

My car was doin it before on a G2 integra... all we had to do was clime under it and tighten up the clamps on the exhaust... maybe if your exhausts is a little loose... probably less expencice than replacing headers and a cat.... my 2 cents

i know this is an old post, but my g2 ls did this right before my rod bearings went and fucked up my crankshaft. so make sure its not coming from the bottom of the motor. hope its not wish ya luck in being the exaust.
