It's a combination of the B18 and Honda parts cross compatibility/ interchangeability.

Plus they aren't the most sophisticated in terms of security to say the least

People tear them down and part it out, and make tons of money off of it, Plus what dc2GS-R said.

Pretty much sums it up. That and the car can be torn apart in a few hours.

engine, tranny, suspension, interior, hood, doors, fenders, and hatch in roughly 2.5 hours with no breaks or messing around with 4 people that is knowledgeable with hondas/acuras
