Hey guys i finally convinced my dad to help me pay for my ls. Well anyways once i get it i will have about $1000 left over and i am a complete Noob with cars but i would like to learn with experience with my car. but from what i read everyone will tell me to lower my car so im going to do that but after that i have no idea so if someone can help me out that would be sick.

check to see if the timing belt and water pump have been changed... if not recently I would do that before anything... if a timing belt breaks on ya its gunna do all kinds of damage.. I know from experience.

Welcome. I say you use the money to do some maintenance first. Fix whatever needs to be fixed before you start modifying it. That's just what I would do though. Do as you wish.

Definitely fix things first. I didn't with my 92 GTI and now it's dead thanks to the timing belt. It's a lot better to have a running car than a decoration in the driveway.

I would do some maintenance on it first like everyone has said. Even if they said it just had an oil change and stuff. I would do it again just for my own piece of mind. I would change the oil, tranny fluid, brake fluid, flush the coolant, etc.

alright thx guys, so after i slam it i was surfin around on the forums and im thinking after i drop to get a short ram and manifold intake upgrade, then maybe after a short shifter what do you guys think?

an intake manifold wont yield you any increase in performance on a stock motor. if you're gonna start modifying you should go with the basic bolt-ons : intake | header | high flow cat | and exhaust. it'll reduce restrictions on airflow giving you better overall gains.
