Which starter?

In the middle of replacing my starter right now. all was good until i took out my original & noticed it was quite a bit different then my newer one that i just purchased. i have a b16a & my tranny is a cable ys1 and the teeth on the original starter are sticking out about an 1.5 inches and the one i just got the teeth only stick out about .5 inches at the most. the whole part that goes into the tranny is different.

so my question is are different starters required for different trans.? or whats the deal?

i want to drive my car asap & cannot until i figure out if i can use this newer starter with my trans or not. do i need another one or will this one work fine?

when I replaced my starter, my mech. just ordered me a rebuilt one, and I had a s1 cable tranny paired with my 18a.

im trying to avoid buying from a shop & paying their price. it may come down to that though

Get a b16 starter.

i have posted this on a few different forums now. i have 2 people telling me to use the one i got and 2 people telling me to get a b16 one... im still leaning twords b16 starter. but say i try it with the replacement i got... if it goes bad there is a good chance i will F up my flywheel, right? i really dont want to risk that if that is the case
