Which motor to build for boost

OK here are the choices...

LS/Vtec
OR
GSR vtec engine

I have decided to build an engine for boost over the course of fall/winter.. I was going to do a swap but I dont want to have to deal with motor mounts etc.. so WHICH engine would be the least expensive and possibly just as good as the other or better with boost?

LS/vtec or full b18c1 build

Well is the LS lower end internals any different or stronger stock (like forged crank/rods) etc..

I know I will need to go with low compression pistons, don't plan to bore just hone, sleeve, build.

Id do a b18b myself, bore it to 2.0 forged it sleeve it, but thats just me, cant go wrong with any b18 set up as long as it's done right,

i dont think so. up to you, since you have a FC that i presume you can drive on the streets, i would do ls vtec. the only reason i personally would do b18c would be because thats the only car i have and i would need a car to drive so i would build a motor on the side. thats a key factor for me atleast. but im dumb and stupid....so im gonna build a b1

What is your HP goal?

Honestly, if you're looking for streetable bost, just use your b1. Do an OEM rebuild and get some forged pistons and rods. You'll have less reliability issues than with an ls/vtec and you'll save yourself some $ from not buying the c1. If you're dead set on one of those options, B18c1. I <3 my GSR

if yuor going to sleeve it anyways it doesnt really matter. but you dont need to take it out to a 2.0.

The LS/VTEC can be just as reliable as a stock GSR or a stock LS. It's a matter of using a good quality conversion kit and installing the parts right. I'm sure your competent enough to do that so don't let the reliability talk turn you off from a LS/VTEC.

2.0 would be the best way to go since you'd be spending the money on sleeves anyways. Forged internals for sure. I'd personally go for the LS/VTEC but it's not my build.

Well when I do this I will build the engine on the side and then drop it in.. my only issue was I wanted to use an integra block (b18) because I dont want to have to ick with custom mounts etc..

ls/vtec sounds great.. I can get a vtec head for a decent price, pull the head down and do a port/polish job, cams etc

My biggest goal is to do this as cheap as possible without compromising quality.. My RX7 is my "this is how to spend 20G's" car and the integra is the "this is how u do a hell of a build on a REAL BUDGET" car

oh and hp I would like 300 if possible I want it streetable (A MUST), I don't need it to be crazy fast but with nice tires I would like a 11/12 sec pass and be comp for anyone on the block.

You can get 300 on a stock motor without sleeves. It's a good idea, but not absolutley necessary. The stock sleeves will hold that.

And "custom mounts"??? Please explain. They are interchangeable incase you didn't know.

I would just sleeve it because its the right thing to do..

as for custom mounts I mean I previously made a thread like this but it was asking what MOTOR was best for boost.. and it came out to doing an engine swap (like K20 or H22 etc)
I just want to keep the b18 because I don't want to have to deal with trying to make custom mounts for a different engine swap..

so my main question was which way should I go to get the least expensive build and which would be BETTER

ls/vtec or gsr swap

Not to pick on anyone but why do people think this? It's understandable for a all motor car but for a turbo car its a twist of a knob and a waste of possible builds out of a block if need be. even sleeved blocks can have issues and why would you start at 84 maybe be able to build it one more time when you can start at 81 and then if need be build 82, 83, and 84. there is no need for a 2.0 right away. the revline 82 bore care made 800whp and 500 in tq.
So stop telling people to go right to 84

;)

oh and you can make 300 on a stock GSR
