Hey ive been reading alot of old threads about people doing ls all motor builds and recently i read one from honda tech. The guy said when he dynoed ls b18b1s he would see an average of around 105 whp. Thats the motor i have and there has got to be more power than that in my motor. I usually look to a jdm motors dealer online to see what different motor spec as far as like trq, redline, hp, things like that. My motor supposedly pushes about 130-140 hp(from them). So where do they get that number from? Oh and if anyone knows i want to use p30 jdm b16a pistons on my ls build. I know they fit stock but would anyone recomend getting the .25 overbore?

eh i was giving the number he gave me. and im sure that a b18 with any mileage on it isnt going to hit that number
You never know. Every motor is different. Too many factors to think about. To be fair, let's just agree on 100-120 WHP. :thumbs up

i dont know mines bone stock, other than having a beginer rebuild it before they sold it to me. He replaced all the bearings, and a few other essientials but nothing he didnt have to. Freshened it up i guess. And man i have alot of buddies that are into building motors and racing them and they all tell me its really quick to be stock. I think it is too but i have it in a 93 teg ( ls ) or was. Maybe its lighter. Idk thanks for the input .

It's no b18b but I've seen a b20z with basic boltons make 140whp and 136wtq
and have seen b18c's make 160 whp with just an intake. lots of variables, but on average a b18b should make about 100 to 120whp stock, a b18a1 far less and don't even get me started on the tq numbers of a stock xsi/Sir B16.

B18B and B20 heads are the same with the exception of the pr8 heads, those are Japanese and Australian market Only. it's ports are like a vtec head and flow better than any Non Vtec head.
the cam profile difference on the B20z is minimal compared to the B20B.

That extra .2 liters affects the torque, he is referring to whp in this thread. But DAMN, a b20z that made those numbers stock.
