stock 94 gsr (170@7600 128@6200 ) 2667lbs.... or......96 civic hatch jdm b16a2 (168@7800 126@7300 )2230lbs
im considering weight a big factor, this is probably a stupid question but im curious and is there any other things to take into consideration?

That would probably be a close race, you should probably take tires into consideration. Lets say you have some nice brand new tires, and the other guy has some nasty old dry tires with no tread. Whos gonna get a better launch?

i think that a hatch might win by mayb a half a car, from what i've seen

Its gonna be close, the hatch has the edge thought its gonna go throught the gears faster so the thirg gear is gonna be the deciding factor, get a good lauch hes probably gonna catch up in second but the GSR has the killer 3rd gear its longer so hes gonna shift before you and you are still pulling in third make sure you shift at 8200 rpm in third it helps.

the civic is faster...a stock gsr runs low 15's and the civic runs high 14's....and weight is the main factor...jdm b16a DOHC have shorter gears

The Hatch is gonna be faster man, but like the one guy said above. Tires are gonna play a big part at the track for getting good traction. One thing people don't really understand is that cars making the same amount of power but weight less makes a HUGE difference I mean were talking about over 400lbs here. For example lets say I run a mustang tha'ts putting out over 400whp that weights like 3500lbs and I'm putting out over 350whp and my car weights 2700lbs who do you think would win? Another thing to take into accountability is the driver. That's about 80% of the race right there. You would smoke that guy if he couldn't drive worth a shit ya know. But in my honest opinion the hatch will be faster most likey on the top end.

on the topic of weight... from what ive heard (cant remember where though) you should gain either .1 or .01 seconds aproximately for every 100 pounds you take off the car. i cant remember which though. im thinking its .1 seconds. there for if youre driving the same exact car as someone else with the same driving skill as you and the other guy has his 200 pound buddy in the car then he should run ABOUT .2 seconds slower. but thats just assuming what i heard is correct

You are correct teg9five. Supposedly the statistic is that you gain a tenth for every hundred pound you take off the car. Now that may not sound like much. But you could possibly be making up 4 tenths. Now for those that go to the track alot 4 tenths is quite a lead. Especially with a good launch and traction.
