what wheels weigh, and other funny pics

so ive always seen people put their steelies on or other small diameter wheels when they go to the track, always figured it was cause less rotational mass = easier to spin the tire, therefore quicker times cause the engine isnt working as hard.

So while putting my 14" civic dx steelies on my car today, i decided to weigh stuff.

16 lbs = kuhmo hp4 185/65/14 tire, just the tire not mounted on anything
35 lbs = 14" civic dx rim with a 195/60/14 tire
41 lbs = 17" icw 618 rim with 205/40/17 tire

so in switching to the steelies i am shaving 6 lbs per wheel. I never realised how much tires weighed.

and and as added bonus trinh will like this one, on the front left wheel both my rotor screws were missing  went to honda, $2.11 later i got new ones.

bad pic, but this mofrap with his illegally registered colorado plate having 7th gen civic keeps parking in front of my fuckin house, so me and my dad boxed him in last night. Unfortunately when i left for school this morning the car was still there, so they hadnt tried to get out.

anyways just wanted to share

you don't necessairly needs screws there. cause when you slap the rims on there, it keeps the rotor in place still.

lol at that point even if the rim fell off your rotor would be toast anyhow. but you still have 3 more brakes to help you stop lol

The caliper would still hold the rotor on. You're pretty much screwed either way though if you lose a wheel on the freeway

hmm but what if it's a bigger rim but weight same or less than a steelie? I always wonder that.
