What To Do Next

1993 b18a1 with cold air intake, short shifter, straight back cat back exhaust.

I want to get a header and intake manifold to get that air flowing right. I live in NORCAL so i know the header must be CARB legal, is this true for the intake manifold too? If so, please lend me an oppinion on which ones to go for... maybe a high price range pair and a lower one too. Thanks guys!

Yes, Intake mani must be CARB legal too, technically...

You probably won't want an intake manifold before you do aftermarket cams and/or head work though. It will not really benefit you, and may even hurt performance if untuned with stock cams/head.

I know Skunk2 and Edelbrock make CARB legal intake manifolds, headers, and cams for the DC, but idk about the DA. Just look on their sites and see I guess.

thanks for the advice... jw tho, why specifically wouldnt the intake manifold make much of a difference now? it will just enable air to flow more freely, accenting the other mods for air suction and flow (AEM intake, exhaust, soon to be headers)..my exhaust was custom made and the stainless steel tubing is pretty fucking fat all the way from the engine bay and i know i can push more air out if i free up the intake manifold too... idk. im a rook thats why i ask

I wanted to get that stuff as far as air flow taken care of, then go and do high comp pistons, cam, racing clutch and flywheel.. larger throttle body and such.

Wait... What?
In general, if you want more power by replacing parts then you need to find the ones that are hindering performance. The IM isn't hindering your performance because your engine isn't making enough power yet. You could still replace it but the gains would be negligible and you would be better off putting that money toward some cams or suspension mods.

Oh ok yea that makes sense... and i do have suspension taken care of already, well the previous owner had it done. Its fully adjustable, i love it.

Get a larger rear sway bar and replace some of the worn bushings. I didn't do that and now my shit sweaks. Also, the sway bar is probably the biggest bang for your buck.

Yea that came with the car too... the sway bar... although the car does squeak over speed bumps ever since my engine swap (got a newer b18a1)

what size is your piping because if it is to big you will be losing power because you dont have any back pressure

Heyy..not sure, id have to go out and measure, but it definitely isnt hindering my performance. my shit is pretty quick. theres no way stock piping would make my car any quicker. i dont know if my mechanic tuned my shit when he put my recent b18a1 (104,000 miles) in. (my old one had 184,00 and i cracked the block) but my car has never been faster. 3rd gear high rpms riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiippppppsssss
