What makes a car a DC2 or a DB8 or a DA?

how does that number and letter system work? and wha tis my car considered? i have a 94 RS

you have a DC4 non vtec
now the DC2 is type r/ gsr = vtec motors

DC2 is GS-R, and Type R, DC4 is the RS GS LS in a coup, and the 4 doors are the DB8. your teg is the gen 3 so its not a DA. It should be a DC4 if its a coup.
