What is this? (pic inside)

I just installed my aem cai yesterday. I noticed after I finished installing it there's a broken piece on my intake manifold. I have no idea what it is, it has a vacuum to it. The car is still acting like normal, no cel or funny idle... Does anyone know what it is and what does it do?

dash pot, it keeps the throttle body from sticking using a diaphragm

i didnt know what it was either but i just took it off and my car still runs fine

Yeah, you don't need it. Usually gets in the way of every strut bar.

its weird my strut bar actually clears it, but if i dont need it i might take it off then
