What is a simple sound setup?

I mean all around, front and back. Most importantly, what are good brands for the 6.5s that aren't expensive but still deliver decent sound, and what would I need for a simple setup in the back? I don't really want a BIG sub, I like my trunk space, but I want a little more than what I've got. And what all would I need? I don't know a lot about systems, I really only have knowledge of components, don't really know what they do (for the most part) or how they work.

My setup is basically a Kenwood deck powering 4 pioneer speakers, sized respectively for their spots and then I just recently got a JL 12'' sub. JL is expensive but its quality and you can be easily satisifed for a 10'' sub by them. Also kicker has some pretty good subs. I did not install so I don't know much about the details(ohms, crossovers etc) but I got a local shop to do it,and I'm sure you can get a good system bought and installed for under $800
