What do ya think...

Since we have all been on the subject of turbos in this part of the site for the past few days....i just found this on ebay! Yea it's a t3 and a small turbo but i only want like 7 pounds out of it and this little guy will spool up fast! Any opinions on it the price looks good

Also...i know having a small a/r...the turbo will be quick spooling but they say that smaller turbos are not as efficient at higher engine rpms because they cannot get the exhaust gas coming from the engine out quick enough. Since gsrs have a high redline and vtec engines get their power from high rpms....will this present me with a problem? Should i not get a t3 turbo because it won't be efficient and make power when i need it or is it not as bad as it sounds?

no i'm in the planning mode right now but that's a decent price for a garrett t3. But isn't it bad if the turbo isn't making power when vtec engines make it in the higher rev's?

i don't think its a bad idea. it should make a good mild street turbo. the t3 will be able to push as much boost as you're looking for all the way to redline and should spool really quick. the smaller turbo's do become more inefficient at higher boost pressures than larger ones but 7-10 psi won't be any problem with it. a t3 turbo will flow well enough on a b18c at 7psi to keep it right in the efficient part of the compressor map that is supplied on the page. it becomes inefficeint once it start running out of the mapped zone or really close to it. for example, if set a smaller t25 to 13psi it will hold it to redline. if you set it to about 16 then it will spool up 16 at about 4500 and then fall off back to 13 or so. thats is definitely not efficient. but that is a smaller turbo and it WAS the stock one on 2.0 engine. i would like to put a ball bearing t3 on my gsr. it would make quick and it would have a much linear power curve than a bigger turbo. 250 whp fwd daily driver is plenty

if you are just looking right now and have plenty of time then you might wanna try picking up a back issue of sport compact car magazine. the september 2001 issue has an article called Suck, Squish, Bang, Blow part 10 that goes into great detail on turbo sizing and picking the right turbo for what you want. It is very detailed and explains all the compressor mapping, effiencies, flow rates of turbos and what they mean. plus it has two turbo integra's featured, one a 492hp street car! :D

alright cool thanks again man...i'm planning on piecing a kit together once summer comes around but now that your reassured me i'm definatley going to go w/ a t3...i wanna spool up fast lol. And ya 250 whp is more than enough for a daily driver

yeah, I'll probably piece together a kit eventually based around a ball bearing T3. something mild. maybe around 230hp. I already have one car that I've sunk too much money into. that's why i get my teg to drive everyday. its a viscous cycle though. i'm already dying to sink money into it.
