what can i do to decrease wear and tear on my 98 gsr integra transmission?

i just started driving a stick for the first time on the car....and i dont want to put a lot of wear and tear on the tranny....for future plans to maybe do a bit of racing....any tips?

Make sure you check and change the transmission fluid when needed..Honda recommends every 6 years. But if you're going to do any racing, then maybe every couple of track events.

Also a bottle of GM Synchromesh tranny fluid works wonders.

Rev match, don't use a short shifter and don't slam it into gear as hard as you can.

Rev-matching is the single best thing you can do other than the obvious maintenance. Your synchros will thank you for it.

Engine braking also creates a lot of unecessary and completely avoidable load on your tranny

keep your fluids up and fresh, and keep in mind that racing is going to wear on your tranny anyway...
