Weak Battery?

hey guys quick couple questions. My battery is some what dying in my 4runner because I haven't ran the car on a regular basis when I'm suppose to.

The ignition cranks up but the battery doesn't have enough power to fully turn the engine on. So I guess it's not completely dead.
So I just thought since I don't wanna completely drain out the energy I'll disconnect just the negative terminal(black) for a while, I also noticed minor corrosion on both terminals.
But I was looking up articles on google that if you leave your car unattended for a while you should take out BOTH negative and positive terminals. Cuz positive can also drain energy.

So my questions are:
-if I clean off the corrosion will the battery give off more energy for the engine to start?
-and should I disconnect the positive terminal too? So power won't drain when I'm away?

yes that's less interference from the connectors to the battery post.
who the hell knows Ive never heard of anyone disconnecting a battery to save its power

If the battery is corroded it could be fully charged and just getting a bad connection. Happens all the time. Clean it up!
Disconnecting the negative would suffice to disconnect the vehicle.

I suggest getting a trickle charger if your going to let it sit for some time. It just keeps a little charge going to it so it never drains down. Batteries don't always need to be hooked to a vehicle to lose a charge.

Easiest yet? Start up the car every once in awhile and let it run for two minutes. It's good for everything. Warms it up a little, circulates the gas, charges the battery, lets the motor oil move around keeping things fresh. :)

ill come by one day and take the battery to autozone for a free recharge.

and x2 on turning the car on amd let it get to operating temp every other day or 3 days so you wont have to disconnect it.
