We (Don't) want the funk!!

Hi all,

First post, just bought a 93 Integra LS last night from a modder who wasn't doing anything with it.
Great engine and tranny, needs some work but that was expected for 1000 dollars.

This is the thing, the car has this beer-sweat funk to it. Everytime I sit in the car it gets in my clothes and I have to change em. Will getting the car upholstery cleaned professionally get rid of that, or should I look at buying new seats?

I've gotta get some body work done to it and put a new system in it after I get it legal.

Thanks,

You are prolly going to just want to buy new seats. A detailer can only get so much, and there is no telling how far down in the cusion the beer has soaked. All a detailer will do is hose it down scrub it with soap, hose it again and take a shopvac to it. They wont be able to get it all.

And have patients, this is a great forum to be on. People just dont jump on things very fast sometimes. Just fyi.

Aw nuts, okay. I will have to add that to the list of things to replace.

Thank you for responding. I will be more patient in the future.

Welcome to the club! Looks like a good starting place. If people don't respond immediately, don't stress out or feel ignored, often it's a slow period or something along those lines. CI rapes TI all day :thumbs up

Then CI is where I will stay!
Finally got the work done on the car and it's running good.
Now to get it inspected after I get 4 new tires.

lol,

HAHA, its all good bro, I was just throwing it out there for you. If no one replys, just bump the thread. They will come around to it lol... And no problem, you might be able to air it out, and try the other options the others listed, but beer is hard to get rid of. Specially if its been a lot of beer..

Tell the previouse owner that he is being charged alcohol abuse, and to turn himself in... lol

Lol...alcohol abuse. hehe.

It turns out that the funky smell was being caused by decomposing pine needles in the trunk under the floorboard.
I got out the vacuum and cleaned out the inside of the car and now it just has that vintage-y older sportcar smell that I love.
I'm still going to get the interior cleaned professionally and maybe replace the baseboard carpet in the interior...but that will be way down the line. I sealed up the leak in the trunk and cleaned out the ant nest that was back there as well. Now I have to fix the leaky windshield cowl before the next storm hits.

take the seats out, shampoo them and clean the rug while you are at it...

looks like you have a nice driveway you can hose them off... leave them to dry for a week...

I think I am going to replace the seats. They're all torn and worn and just aren't that comfortable either.
It can't be that hard to put better seats in these cars...
