Wastegate ???

Ok so I got my turbo installed, got the downpipe adjusted today and is looking clean. now im not sure if i have a busted wastegate or if its supposed to be acting like it is. Right now i dont have a pipe connected from the wastegate to the downpipe its gonna cost like 150 to get it custom made. so its venting to the atmosphere. however when i start the car i can feel exhaust gas comeing out of the wastegate and it has a loud sound, idk if it is supposed to allow some gas to escape and then just open fully when it reaches the spring pressure or if mine is leaking?

it definitly sounds like its leaking check to make sure all the bolts are tight and if its still doing it you probaly have a bad gasket

well its not comeing from the gasket that is between the wastegate and the headers if thats what you mean. or is there an internal gasket that keeps it sealed until it opens?

did you make sure to install the fire ring on the wastegate? f
