hey, names gio. live in texas

so i just got a 94 GSR 4door, its got 170,000 miles but high way miles. my uncle got it new and hes not the one to beat the crap out of car.

so far i've got ram intake, chipped, apexi n1with high flow cat, headers and down pipe.

i know i need:
fmic kit
turbo
bov
turbo manifold
injectors
oil lines
down pipe
boost & air/fuel gauge

feel free to tell me more parts

i was also wondering if it would be better to use a civic half radiator and a oil cooler or just a full radiator?
where do i make the oil feed line?
how can i check to see if my car is healthy enough to boost, without rebuilding?
can i use DSM stock injector?
do i need a tune if im only running 6-8 psi?

thanks

your going to want a fuel pump and bigger injectors, the dsm stocks i believe are in the 400cc range so those will be fine...

your going to want to build the bottom end and possibly top end, youll want to tune it, and if you want a tubular manifold ull most likely need a hafl radiator but if u run a log type manifold, a full size radiator for sure

I would suggest doing a Compression test and Leakdown test before you go equipping your turbo parts.

A civic style radiator will give you more toom for the new parts youre strapping on. You should probably upgrade the fuelpump so its able to keep up with the engines fuel demands.

Yes you NEED A TUNE after you turbocharge your motor. I suggest you do A LOT more research before you go buying more parts. Look through the stickies and search other forums. Team-integra has quite a bit of information on turbo builds.

Edit: You do not need to build the motor for boost. As long as its healthy and you get a good tune you will be fine.

You can rebuild your motor if you want. Im not saying you shouldnt do it, just that it wont be necessary as long as the motor is healthy.

If you want to go all out...
Block:
Forged Low compression turbo pistons
Forged rods
New bearings
New oil pump
ARP Rod Bolts

Head:
Upgraded Valves
upgraded Springs
Upgraded Retainers
Bronze Valve guides
OEM Valve seals
Brian Crower Turbo Camshafts
ARP Head Bolts
Im sure some one could add to that list.

Agreed, compression test to see if it's healthy; 170k is a lot of miles regardless of how they were driven. You don't have to replace the valvetrain right away unless you change the cams to something more aggressive. You really should get:

-Forged pistons w/ new rings
-Forged rods
-New timing belt, water pump, and cam seals if you haven't changed them recently

Also, what is your ecu chipped with? If it's a 'one-size-fits-all' eBay chip, ditch it and check out our site sponsor Xenocron for a chipping kit. They'll set you up to be tuned on Crome, ECTune, etc.

Oil feed line needs to be tapped from the oil pan.

YOU NEED A F*CKING TUNE

Not trying to be mean, but soo many people don't understand what it means to 'tune' a motor; they just slap parts on and hope for the best.

All I can say to you is research, research, research.

pgmfi.org is your friend, as is the search button on Club Integra.

i know i need a tune haha people always tell me that i can run under 8psi without a tune and run good but i was JW. were should my compression be at? and idk about the ecu, the car came with it, my v-tec kicks in at 5k aggressively

dont forget the wastegate and intercooler and also a bigger exhaust system if you dont already have one :)

and also REPLACE the timing belt...thats almost a must on a turbo build

make sure you only use high quality synthetic oil on a turbo setup (i use mobil 1) and make sure to change it every 3000 miles...turbos break down oil very fast

are there any sensors on the TB that need to be changerd? what about ignition?
your ignition is fine..you could just give it a tune up

plugs,wires,cap,rotor

and as for sensors, theres none on the throttle body that you need to replace but you need a wideband o2 sensor

Whoever tells you "you can run xxx psi"...kick them square in the dick. 8psi on a quick-spooling small turbo is much different than 8psi on a larger snail. NEVER EVER EVER EVER go by "this psi".

What is your car "chipped" with? Need to be more specific. "Chipping" the car with a pre-set setup isn't always the greatest thing in the world.

And a quick rundown on exhaust components....

Turbo Setup:
Exhaust Manifold => Downpipe

N/A Setup:
Header => B-pipe

You will never have a header and a downpipe on your car at the same time.

I suggest you take what was told to you by that person and forget it because they don't know what the hell they're talking about. If you listen to them, it will cost you lots of money in blown engines.

Listen to the guys here on CI. Most have a pretty good idea what's going on. :D

i live by a whole bunch of red necks haha, but ill go with what you guys say!

got some more questions with fuel:
do i need to upgrade my Fuel Pressure Regulator and fuel rail?
would it be wise to get a bigger throttle body?
what would be a good clutch?
does anyone have a suggestion on what turbo i should get?

Well, then I'd take our advice over their's. If you need advice on you IROC-Z they may be able to help.
Well.....no, I'd still take what Ricky(8UrCiVic) says over their opinions any day. He can ask his Pops about it if he doesn't know, and that man know his shit.

no to all of those

you just need some dsm injectors..look on ebay for good deals on some used ones(thats what i did)

if you go bigger than 450cc...you will need to upgrade your fuel pump but this should not be neccesary for your kind of setup

you could get a better clutch but you dont have to have a good clutch...stock will be ok on a small setup (less than 250hp)
