Type-S sub in Base Model

My wife just bought a 06 JGM base RSX. I was curious can the Bose Type-S sub be some how hooked up to the base stereo? Or how about aftermarket stereo? How does that sub sound anyway? She doesn't need anything extremely loud she just wants a little bump.

the bose sub from the S sucks...the head headunit will fit just fine, its just the sub that is weak.
