ii want to buy a nice complete turbo bolt on kit, injectors fuel managment the whole 9 at once with one kit. i see the turbonetics kit with pre set base maps so you can run your car with the turbo. are these safe to drive on everyday? does anyone personally have one they can tell me about?

Yeah its safe. Those pre-programmed ECU's are tuned on generic settings based on what kind of motor, and what kind of parts, in this case a turbo kit.

It'll work but still not as great as getting a tune for YOUR SPECIFIC engine. All engines are different and need different tunes.

I still would disagree. It's impossible to have a "ready to go tune." Every engine and setup is different from the next. There are such things as base-maps that are meant only to get your car to a tuner. I know companies have a "Pre-tuned ecu" such as Turbonetics but these are VERY conservative tunes on these ecus. You won't be making the power you should, will probably have a fluctuating idle, get bad gas mileage and so on.

Oops sorry man didn't read your post very thorough...you are correct :) What were both trying to say is...don't rely on the basemap to boost on and think you car is tuned because it's not and that's not the purpose of a basemap. Get it tuned!!!!
