Hey guys my question of a turbo setup the wastegate spring is it the more coils you have higher boost or less coils thanks everyone

CI BOOST FIEND
its not about the coils necessarily, its the strength of the spring

if you have a 10lb set spring, then it will take 10lbs of boost to open the waste gate, thus stopping spool
to only accurate way to tell if it isn't marked is to put the spring in and see how much boost you make

Assuming spring material, diameter of the material of the spring, diameter of the spring itself, and length of the spring are all the same......one with less coils will be stiffer. That is just the nature of springs. A spring with less coils has less material, therefore is less conducive to flex. The same way it's easy to bend a 10ft pole, but hard as hell to bend a 1ft pole.

But if one spring is shorter, more narrow, different material, different diameter.....etc. You can throw that out the window because you are comparing apples to oranges. So it really isn't a reliable way of comparing two different springs of unknown make.
