so i have a kit going on my 94 integra LS, i am getting an electric cutout put in. so i want to know if it makes any difference if i went to a smaller exhaust can than the one i have now (2.5 in). will going smaller decrease my horsepower when the cutoff is still flowing through the whole system? Or should i just stay put with the apexi 2.5 inch that i got?

stay with the 2.5 inch or get a custom 3 inch
bigger(to an extent)=more flow=more power

Yes, going smaller will slightly decrease power.
Why are you using an electric cutout...? Doesn't seem like something that should be on a Honda lol.

Don't go any smaller than 2.5" with a turbo..

cut outs are old school, dont waste your money on it just get a 3" or stick with the 2.5... a cut out wont do anything to help flow unless the cut out is lined up with the flow it will just increase noise

I'm pretty sure that was the point. He could roll around with a noisy exhaust, then close the cut out to have a quiet exhaust. Either way I see it as more of a muscle car/rat rod thing. Not something for an Integra, especially a turbocharged one.

Not necessarily.
A friend of mine has a cutout on his Aristo and with it open, it netted him a 30 whp gain and sounds like a jet engine haha.

And what do you mean "line up with the flow"? A cutout is simply a Y-pipe with one part going down to the muffler and another to a butterfly valve..exhaust gases will take the path of least resistance, so when it's open, that would be out the valve.

i agree with red.

theres lots of people here that run drag on a turbo honda with a cutout. i say do it.
and people could hear the turbo spooling up for miles!! :thumbs up

exhaust on a boosted car doesn't give you power, you just need a pipe that will handle the flow and get the exhaust out as fast as the turbo pushes it, 3inch piping is reccomended

Exhaust on a boosted car restricts power. Lol.
A car with a 3" exhaust could make more power then a car with a 1" exhaust. :thumbs up
