I've tried to read as much as i can, and see what information is out there. But im still not sure. So, my question is what transmission fluid to use for the manual transmission. I've seen that some people say acura manual transmission, others say the penzoil for GM. But I havent seen what's the best for the gen1's?

Also, I have a slight whine in 5th gear, I'm hoping putting new fluid in will fix this.

DONT PUT transmission fluid in a first gen. Its just normal 5-w30 moter oil if I remember right. Might be 5-w20.. I know tranny fluid will fuck it up. Its normal oil

Already did! Very educating! Not sure of you can answer this question. But I'm thinking of switching to a prelude or accord 5th gear. Just to get the lower cruise RPM's and because i think my 5th gear is worn, which is causing the whining noise. I looked at a prelude set of gears today at a pic'n'pull. The gears had the little nicks in the center of the teeth. Not sure if thats bad or normal from the factory.

The only car I know of that you will be able to switch parts with is from a 86-89 civic or unless you somehow come across a jdm zc that someone is willing to part out. I dont know for sure if you will be able to get anything from accords or preludes. A lot of people dont realize that preludes and accords are usually very different from each other. Accords were the fully loaded luxury family car while the prelude was there sporty luxury. (depending on years) But Your best bet would be just pulling a new tranny from a pick n pull. I always go to the two in Portland OR. They have at least 3 at south and at least one at north.. IF your in that area
