tranny power handling question

does anyone know how much horsepower AND torque a 5speed ls tranny can with stand before u have to up grade. i know you have to get a flywheel and clutch that will with stand more just wondering about the internals, and should i just rebuild with new sychros or should i just buy a new one and be done with it

Depends on how you will be driving it. I'd have to say if you went through it and rebuilt it back to stock specs and you were gonna use it in moderation for daily driven use and not drag racing all the time. I'd have to say 200ish.

I have seen stock ones handle 300 just fine with a nice clutch setup as long as you don't have any existing issues with the trans. If you are launching it hard or anything like that, you probably want to look into upgrading the differential and or axles. Those are much more fragile than the actual gears in the trans. synchro upgrading is a good idea too, honda ones are meant to be gentle and definitely not made with intentions or handling high power

daily driver n strip use with the plan of 400 hp max. with that info who makes a tranny to hold that and how much am i looking at paying

just get a good clutch set up and lsd and stronger axles. Ive seen stock LS trans handle 400+ with those upgrades

Its not so much the transmission holding up, but the clutch and axles. Those are what you need to upgrade for to handle more power.

i plan on putting at least a stage 2 maybe go wit a 3 and already planned on getting better axles also whats a good website that has differentials that r upgraded
