Thinking about fixing my car

I was going to try and sell my car but now might just fix it. About two weeks ago it broke a timing belt. I have called around and it sounds like the whole top end will need to be rebuilt as well. I was wondering if anyone has gone through this and what all they had to fix. Thanks for your help.

It is possible to get lucky and not mess anything up. You may just need to replace the belt

But more often then not a broken timing belt results in valves that look like corkscrews

if its just an ls a head will be rather cheap.

head, machine work, t belt and a head gasket.....all well under 500 bucks.
