Thin head gasket....why?

Just was wondering what would you expect with an aftermarket valve cover gasket? What is the main points of aftermarket (thinner) gasket? Doesnt it raise your compression? I dont understand them. Thanks

Yea, the purpose of an aftermarket, thinner headgasket is to raise compression (by creating less space in the combustion chamber), and supposedly they are more durable then OEM...who knows about the second part lol, but the first part is for sure. If you are going for an OEM-style replacement, then go Honda OEM.

i wouldnt go any other way then oem, heard bad things about after market head gaskets

Those guys at Mugen and Spoon don't know what the hell they're doing. Stay away from their head gaskets!

id just have the head shaved insead of using a thinner gasket. has bad idea written all over it in my eyes.

Anybody have experience with Cometic head gaskets? Worth the extra money?
