There's gunk in my coolant

I did a little maintenance on the Teg today to pass inspection. My reservoir tank was low, so I popped off the radiator cap to check the level in there and saw this:

Anyone know what this sediment is? Is it a symptom of a problem I might have inside my engine? The reservoir tank has been going low regularly this year, this time it went low in the tank and the radiator, a first time for that. I also have an oil leak that's dripping down onto my header, one reason I failed my inspection. Dunno if an oil leak would have anything to do with the crap in my coolant, but thought I'd mention it.

headgasket issue? Oil mixing with the coolant and coagulating causing this gunk looking stuff perhaps? If your loosing coolant you could be burning a small amount of it too from the headgasket. I would do a leakdown and check for bubbles

Coolant could just be leaking out. You would be surprised at all the shit that we would flush out of a radiator when cleaning some. I would just flush it out really well. Oil leak might be your cam seal, that's what always ends up leaking on honda engines.

I changed my cam seal years ago, put an STR in there. I hope your right about the gunk, it's just that I've never seen crap build up around the radiator cap like that before, and I've had this car for 8 years.

Well if your leaking coolant you'll have an air pocket there. That will force everything to rise to the top. Check your heater lines, maybe a leak in the reservoir. You just rebuilt your motor a few years back. I doubt that your headgasket is failing. If not the cam seal maybe your vtec solenoid or valvecover. Hondas only usually leak from a few places.

I agree with Aussie. Flush it really well and see how you come out. Time to get the shit out of your radiatior, like how the Red Sox flushed the shit out of left field :D
