the infamous crank but no start.

I have a 1993 LS, one day my car died and I waited about 5minutes and it cranked right back up, then a couple days later I wanted to paint my valve cover, I take it off paint it go to put it back on and noticed I was missing a stud, I wait two days for a stud to come in from acura and put it together and my car cranks but doesn't start.

I thought of all the possible problems, I bought a brand new dizzy, the whole thing, and still no spark. I bought a new main relay, still no spark. I put my friends working ECU in and srill no spark. The ecu isn't throwing anh codes, I'm thinking maybe knock sensor but I just want other peoples opinions cause I'm about to kust roll it off a cliff.

How did you verify that it didn't have spark? Grounded the spark plug?

If you bought a brand new dizzy and its not having any spark. I would check fuses and all your grounds. Check the ground on the thermostat housing.

Knock sensor is completely irrelevant to starting. Plus, unless your car is a GSR, it probably doesn't have one.

There are very thorough or semi thorough check lists across the net if you search for them.

If you've confirmed theres no spark, work your way back through the ignition system starting from plugs. Check your fuses first though if you havent. Its rare that someone bought a brand new OEM dizzy cus that s***s expensive as hell so that said, if you bought an aftermarket one it could be crap. Scenario being.. something went wrong in your last dizzy, you replaced it with one thats just plain s***, unknowingly pointing a finger elsewhere.

haha.. ahh the moment you take a few minutes to click 'post'.

I checked spark by sticking a screw driver in the spark pluck wire and grounding it. And it is an OEM dizzy, broke the bank on it. It does have a knock sensor, right under the intake manifold beside the oil filter. I did not check the ground by the thermostat tho..
