Tach Isn't Working

I Love JDM
I Recently Just Bought My 98 GS-R. Everything on the gauge cluster works fine except for the tach. People have told me that a need a whole new gauge cluster and others have told me i just have a loose wire. Can anyone please tell what i need to do. Thanks

Do you have white face guages? Sometimes my guages stick when the car is cold due to my guagefaces. If thats not it, you can get a used cluster for 45-65 and use the tach on that. You dont need a whole new cluster. Before you go out and buy a new one, see if you cant take yours apart and fix it.

check first to see if you have a loose wires it might be something as simple as it's not getting power or signal from the distributor.

The gauges are stock, they arent white face or anything like that. Tomorrow im going to try and check the wires to see if its just not getting power. ill hopefully figure it out and let you guys know ... thanks for the help

today when i was driving i down shifted and the tach spiked .... it went up to 6500 and then went straight back down .... we discovered that i need a new distributor and then it will work again thanks for all the help everyone
