ok i have a garrett whats "T04" and whats the difference between t/3 and to4 is it but a step above in size? im puting it on a virgin b18b so the engine is not a problem but my father wanted a smaller turbo like a t3 for faster spooling is it tru and will this turbo do just as fine? if youd like i will post a link of the turbo i believe its a .60 a/r theres so many numbers on that thing it isnt funny

First of all, that is a huge question. The differences can be nearly endless. If you want to understand the differences, then you need to learn what those numbers mean and how they effect a turbo's performance. If you care less to know what those mean but still would like to properly pick the correct sized turbo, then atleast study how to calculate the coordinates necessary to plot points on a compressor map.

There are hundreds of differences between just the T3 models. the best way to see differences in turbos are by looking at maps.

Or if you would like someone to pick your turbo for you and assume it's what you want, I'm sure someone will gladly spit out a suggestion for a turbo just because their buddy has it and likes it or something to that nature. I prefer to let people picked their own. You know what you want more than anyone else, you just need to learn how to arrive at that decision.

anyone?!?
Secondly a little patience wouldn't hurt you, it's 9:30am and has only been an hour since you posted this thread.

These links will explain most of the things you need to know about turbo sizing and compressor maps.

Garrett Turbo Tech 101
Garrett Turbo Tech 102
Garrett Turbo Tech 103

I also have a spreadsheet that has all of the proper formulas plugged in so you can input the necessary parameters and it will feed out info you will need such as pressure ratio requirements and mass air flow at peak torque and peak horsepower so you can plot them along the compressor map. But you need to know all of the parameters and understand them first because plugging in inaccurate parameters can do more harm than good.

Basically my spreadsheet eliminates having to do a ton of math that is covered in 103 while trying to compare different turbos. But you still need to know what to numbers to plug in.
