Synthetic oil is okay for Honda's, right?

Somewhere I heard that it was bad to use synthetic oils in Honda motors, now I personally don't beleive this, but is this statement true? I don't really see how it could be bad anyway...

I'm about to go and buy and swap to Royal Purple Synthetic oil... It may be expensive, but we have used them in all of our cars and it works VERY well. Reduced the average oil temps on my Jetta, made huge power gains on my brother's old Altima and my buddy's Scion tC...

Just wondering if it's really okay to use it, or if I'm wrong about this saying. Thanks :)

Im pretty sure its fine.
Mine ran pensiol conv. all the way up too 100K, then i switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic.
Im at 107K and haven't had any problems and running like a charm.

However i did notice a small leak around my oil pan at the bottom when i was changing header, and the screws on the pan were loose, and i could turn them with my hand! but i tighted em and they have been fine since.
Not sure if synthetic could have caused it[dontthinkitdid] but im still using it :]

I wouldn't bother using synthetic since you have a B18B1. Conventional oil will do just fine.

Conventional or Synthetic will be fine as long as you use quality brands and change them frequently. I personally would put synthetic in a B18B if I had one too. I don't see what VTEC has to do with using a better oil

LOL @ Slurp's post.

Only thing I have to say about using synthetic is you might have new found oil leaks because of the high mileage.

Synthetic is better because it can get into smaller places then conventional oil, but that's also where new leaks can come from. Try it out! Worst thing is you change back to cheaper oil next oil change....

Honda motors are fine for synthetic, I've never head the contrary. I've used Mobil1 in my own car for years. That's a rumor, not true.

I've also heard that it's not good for the engine to switch back to conventional after using synthetic....

i use Redline oil and Torco (superior to royal purple).......
Redline makes some good stuff too. I think it's quite cheaper also, but we know a guy that works at a Kragen, and he can get us a nice discount on Royal Purple, They don't carry RedLine motor oil as far as I know.

if you havent ever run a synthetic in your car, and im sure your fairly high in miles...use a semi-synthetic first. this will get the seals used to a thinner oil and when you use that a couple times then go to full synthetic. thats how i am doing it with my car to ensure im not getting any leaks. im a synthetic junkie tho...

synthetic > the rest. end of story.

no harm in switching from one to another either (assuming we are talking about a care that doesnt require a synthetic oil).

in my opinion... if you can afford it use synthetic. especially since 95% of the guys on this forum... and any other really... are hard on thier cars. face it... we beat the hell out of our motors. synthetic owns all.
