swap motor and trans

Hey names noel. heres my situation, a week ago i crashed my teggy 97 gs model b18b1 5speed i got paid cause it wasnt my fault with the money i found me a nice clean gsr shel no motor or trans. (will post pics later)
the frame on my GS was bent some but the motor and trans are good.

currently in the process of removing some rice off the body lol

never did a swap before and need to put the b18b1 in the gsr shell and trans, it has some wiring and stuff in it guess this is where pics would be handy, one of my questions is, is there anything i should look up that might not work or something i have to change, i would assume everything is just plug and play, or just pull it off my GS.

i have Haynes repair manual :suprise:and a couple friends willin to give me a hand

* never did anything big like this any advice would help, and i want to take it slow and make sure its right, just like im planning to marry this teggy :p

Any tips on what i might want to do and get out of the way before i drop it into the new shell? plan on doing timing, water pump, headgasket, oil change & sparks.

Also i have a couple hundred bucks to play around with i was thinking about going lsv, i know i need a vtec head, going with either gsr or b16, and a sandwich plate and some arp studs. i did some reading last night and understand the internals of the ls block can rev up to about 8k without damaging it since it wasnt build to handle vtak :lol:i know the ls has a higher stroke then the gsr. so i want some opinions also if its worth it or what else i might want to invest in so that it doesn't blow a year later.

sorry if the write up is abit sloppy tired right now

Any questions or anything to help much appreciated.

What year is the GSR shell? Your GS was obd2 so you will want to take the ecu and wiring harness if you can salvage it. I'd suggest replacing all the motor mounts and torque mounts. Other than that everything should be plug and play (for the most part). Just take your time because if you don't thats when sh** will mess up.

The shell is a 96 and yeah i believe one of my mounts mightve took some damage, any suggestions to what mounts to go with? Hasport is all i heard of

-OEM
-Energy suspension inserts
-Vatozone replacement
-Hasport

I personally use Hasport just because of the lifetime no questions warranty, I just box up my old fucked up mount and mail it to them. $15 engine mounts for life.
